Decorating for Christmas in our RV is challenging especially for an “all over the house tree in every room kind of girl”. Everything has to be scaled down to “itty bitty” in contrast to my regular over the top decorating. I Love Christmas! Another factor is we don’t want to haul around more weight than necessary to decorate anytime of the year. Storage is another issue or rather lack of it.

The way I handled it was to choose a theme. This year it is snowflakes and snowmen. the decision was easy. I decided to go to the thrift store and see what was available. I found a pretty silver candle holder with a jeweled snowflake on it, fake snow, a snowman ornament, a green beaded votive holder, a snowman head, a stand, and a peacock colored plate.

I wanted inexpensive items so that I could use them and donate them back instead of storing them and hauling the decor with us.
Since the theme was chosen, I watched the sales and coupons at Joann’s and Michael’s and purchased a two foot tree, snowflake lights, garland, remote battery operated candles, Christmas picks and random supplies.
The dollar store provided cards, wrapping paper and supplies, a bobble head snowman, snowflake place mats, and goblets.

I purchased White snowflake picks and made ornaments to tie on packages, I cross stitched the face, gathered the fabric and stuffed with cotton balls. I bought blackboard tags in the scrap booking section and stamped “let it snow” and glued berries on. I hot glued one on each side of the snowflake pick and bent the wire stem to make a hanger for the ornament. Add ribbon and you are done.

Three of the battery operated candles are placed on the trim to the slide out. I added a little of the garland to dress them up a little.

The jar was created with the thrift store ornament. I hot glued bottle brush trees and the snowman in the jar and added fake snow. Add ribbon and a tag. I grouped the jar with the thrift store snow man head and dollar store bobble head snowman.

The silver candle holder looks nice on the stand with some added garland. I love it on the dresser of our bedroom.

The small tree skirt was made with six inch ribbon similar to making a tutu. The colors for the tree were chosen to compliment the thrift store plate and beaded votive holder. I am usually very traditional decorating for Christmas with lots of red so it was fun to do something different. I choose inexpensive picks and floral bushes I cut up.

Presents are wrapped with snowflake paper and gift bags. I made pom poms with sparkly yarn and found snowman ribbon to decorate the packages.

The table is simple. Dollar store place mats and goblets, our every day plates and flatware. I found the green snowflake plates at TJ Maxx.
I spent very little thanks to thrifting, sales and coupons, and the dollar store. Now our little cottage on wheels has the holiday spirit without spilling into much valued living space.
